IMPACT Wrestling star TJ Perkins on dining in L.A., having L.A.-related tattoos & more

IMPACT Wrestling is one of the world’s leading professional wrestling companies, and the week of its Slammiversary pay-per-view the company revealed some big new signings to the company. Among those big signing announcements were The Good Brothers (“Machine Gun” Karl Anderson and “The Big LG” Doc Gallows), Brian Myers, EC3, Eric Young and Heath Miller, all of whom prior wrestling champions. Meanwhile, IMPACT itself — which airs on Tuesday nights at 8:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM CST, as followed by the IMPACT in 60 program each week — is regularly the highest-rated show on AXS TV.

One of IMPACT Wrestling’s notable stars is TJ Perkins, who made his IMPACT return in June. While only 35 years of age, TJP made his in-ring debut as a teenager in 1998. He has wrestled all over the world, many times over, working with almost every notable wrestling company over the last 20+ years at some point. Perkins is currently teaming with Fallah Bahh, chasing for the Impact World Tag Team Championship, with hopes of the the two becoming the world’s first-ever Filipino tag team champions.

But there is so much more to TJ Perkins than wrestling. For starters, he is highly-respected within the gaming community. He has done fashion collaborations. He has been advocate for Philippines-related causes and culture. He has acted. He has writing credits, per IMDb. All while staying active on social media, being very accessible to fans and followers.

As embedded above, I had the pleasure of speaking with the Los Angeles native — he attended St. Thomas the Apostle School and Poly High School in Riverside — by phone in August 2020 about the following and more:

  • Favorite restaurants in Los Angeles
  • How L.A. has influenced his tattoo choices
  • Being a visible advocate for Filipino culture
  • Traveling with video game consoles
  • Future plans beyond wrestling
