6 LA Farmers Markets to Visit This Summer

Los Angeles is a paradise for fresh fruits, vegetables and other delicious eats. Many of these foods peak in summer, making it the best season to spend the day wandering the stalls at farmers markets. Find a market to buy fresh foods, sample wares and enjoy the community atmosphere.

1. Hollywood Farmers Market

This market is one of the largest in the area and an excellent place to spend your Sunday. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday, and you can find it on Ivar and Selma Avenue. Browse hundreds of vendors for high-quality veggies and fruits, especially unique items. If you come closer to closing, many vendors are slashing prices because they don’t want to take home what they brought. Also, enjoy live music, children’s activities and artisans selling goods like handmade jewelry.

2.  Brentwood Farmers Market

If you’re looking for a fun, healthy activity to do on the weekend, spend a day walking around Brentwood Village Farmers Market. It operates from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Saturday, and you’ll find it on South Gretna Green Way in LA. The market has a cozy atmosphere with a terrific selection of vendors for food and flowers.

3. South Pasadena Farmers Market

Head out to the heart of Los Angeles on Thursdays between 4 and 8 p.m. to experience this incredible market. The location includes many California-grown produce stalls perfect for those seeking healthy foods from berries, which are packed with antioxidants to artichokes, an excellent source of magnesium. You will also find indie shops and restaurants nearby, perfect for a shopping night.

4. Pacific Palisades Farmers Market

Leave the hustle and bustle of downtown LA behind with a visit to Pacific Palisades Farmers Market. Find it on Swarthmore Avenue in Pacific Palisades from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. Every week you’ll find new local food and crafts. You can also stop for ice cream or a meal at local restaurants.

5. Santa Monica Farmers Market

Santa Monica operates several farmers markets throughout the week, but your best choice is the Wednesday and Saturday Santa Monica Farmers Market on Arizona Avenue. Stop by anytime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The market has existed for over 40 years and is a favorite stop for celebrities and LA chefs.

You’ll find over 40 stands selling organic produce from local farms. Visitors love visiting this market for products like gorgeous flowers, bread and oils. You’ll discover staple foods and some unique items.

6. Alhambra Farmers Market

This market on South Second Street in Alhambra offers farm-fresh produce and some prepared food. Sometimes, you’ll also find Asian produce and prepared foods, which is rare in other markets surrounding LA. You may discover scallion pancakes, dumplings and reishi mushrooms. The market also hosts special events throughout the year to entertain visitors of all ages. It’s open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday.

7. Malibu Farmers Market

Every Sunday from 9 AM – 2 PM find beautiful people strolling and selecting the freshest produce like Japanese fruits, juicy strawberries, figs, local peaches, and more. Some of our favorite finds at this community-oriented market include mini beef and chicken pot pies, sashimi grade salmon, trays of uni for reasonable prices, homemade pasta, and grass-fed meats. Listen to live music, pick up a gift from several boutique stands, order a custom cake, select a bouquet or orchids, or savor a gourmet lunch/brunch treat from a handful of restaurant purveyors. Most stands offer samples and tables are available to sit and dine. You are sure to spot a celebrity in their everyday attire -behind a hat or sunglasses, of course.
