Eoin Finn is fun! His smile and laugh and “Woooooowhooooo” are contagious! I was all set to ask Eoin what the tenets of Blissology are for him. But, it seemed like a moot point after spending just a few moments with him before the Prelude to Wanderlust O’ahu 2014 began in Santa Monica. It seemed profoundly moot after experiencing the way he guided us with pure joy in the lilt of his steps, the giggle in his voice, and in his incredibly inspiring messages rooted in reality. He laughed about how every morning when he went to check on his son, he’d be greeted with his baby on his back cooing and smiling while he energetically kicked his legs and arms back and forth in the air. And then with one full swoop, Eoin was cracking up and suggesting that it should be a yoga pose. Suddenly there were 40 adults lying on our backs giggling out loud and kicking our arms and legs back and forth like big happy babies. The laughter was infectious! It felt so freeing in its silliness, and yet also in the profundity of the innate joy that we all posses and felt inside in that moment.

On this brisk early Santa Monica morning, along the edge of the beach on a patch of dewy grass, I think I experienced what Blissology is with Eoin Finn. I think the tenets are simply to enjoy, to take notice of your surroundings and the absolute empowerment of being alive in this beautiful world, surrounded by magic and beautiful beings. Joy begets joy! Embracing that evokes an inner happiness that can’t help but be expressed. Yes, I know, all people are not wonderful and the world seems to be imploding from the inside because of the horrible things that humans are doing to poke and prod and slaughter her, and there are bad things that happen to good people. And, yes! Doing something active and conscious about healing those wounds is utterly important. Joy, consciousness, expression of wonder and beauty can aid to counter all of those things, along with problem finding and solving. But man, doing all that with a smile on your face and authentic appreciation for what IS good is awesome!

I left with Eoin’s gift of a yoga session, before he headed off to O’ahu for the Wanderlust Festival, wanting to practice yoga with him every single last day of my life. I just felt great – in body, mind and spirit. I not only experienced Blissology, I learned why Eoin is one of the most highly sought after yogi’s in the world.

You can experience his awesome spirit and teachings now too! Vancouver born Eoin and his family have taken the leap to make a new home in Venice Beach. We should be so lucky. Catch him at various studios for stints of time on the Westside and around this wondrous earth. A consummate world traveler, always seeking out a new gorgeous spot on this planet to be and to surf, you can virtually transport yourself to a plethora of these breathtaking places on a constant basis with his latest DVD launch of Earth Body Yoga. Eoin attributes his blissful state to being outdoors. And, now you can join him on a multitude of journeys to either begin or deepen your yoga practice alongside him. Maybe take your technical device outside with your yoga mat and you can multiply your pleasure and health benefits. He’ll take you into a deep relaxation, and lead you through beautiful asanas (Sanskrit for poses), along the sunny shores of Hawaii to the rocky coastline of BC, Canada. Eoin knows first hand that having an intimate relationship with nature dramatically affects a person’s health and happiness. This interconnection with the nature around us is central to Blissology Yoga and the direction modern yoga is set to move in the 21st Century.

Einstein said, “You can view your whole life as if nothing is a miracle or as if everything is a miracle.” And, Eoin Finn relates, “The ultimate goal of Earth Body Yoga, is that you walk away from your practice feeling so relaxed and present that even in the middle of a city we connect with the natural wonders around us. From noticing the shapes of the clouds, the smells of budding rose blossoms or even your own heartbeat, the opportunity for finding bliss is limitless.”

Eoin also periodically offers yoga certification. And, I love what he says on his site about becoming an instructor. He says, “A lot of people think that becoming a yoga instructor is like learning to teach a basic form of fitness. I think it is one of the most intense commitments one can make. To really be a good yoga teacher, you need to have knowledge of anatomy like an orthopedic surgeon, a grasp on philosophy like a university professor and the knowledge of the human soul like a priest.”
