It was pure luxuriating at the Movie Awards Eco Lounge at Bar 210 of the world-famous Beverly Hilton. The premiere socially conscious luxury event celebrated the onset of spring with two days of “fabulousness” that honored 2014 MTV Movie Award nominees and Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, as well hosted notable TV and film stars. Guests enjoyed Circa 55’s California farm-to-table delicacies, while celebrity DJ Duo ShayFKennedy & DJ Marshall Raymond spun in style on back to back days. LA’s leading sustainable product placement producer, Debbie Durkin, brought an incredible array of eco conscious brands, vacation packages, and the very best in lifestyle together in one place for an unforgettable event.
And I, for one, discovered some gems that I will definitely be keeping in my repertoire of frequent indulgences.
The Eyebrow Boutique blew me away. Lida skillfully sculpted my brows from a plain rounded line to a much more dramatic arch, and groomed those arches impeccably. She performed a little threading miracle. It makes such a difference when eyebrows are done right. They can accent, accentuate, deny or deflect from the natural curves, angels and beauty of one’s face. And although it’ll be a bit of a hike to get out to Glendale, The Eyebrow Boutique is well worth whatever drive is necessary.
My beautification continued as I slipped outside to the courtyard of Bar 210 and into a stand up tent to receive an organic airbrushed tan by the adorable Esmaeili sisters , owners of Glow airbrush tanning salon. In a mere 15 minutes they had given me a naturally glowing tan from head to toe. I emerged completely transformed, as if I’d spent a week on the beaches of Maui. The extra lovely thing about Glow is that it is actually part of The Eyebrow Boutique. So after you get your brows threaded (and maybe even get your hair done and make-up applied in a permanent fashion), you can hop upstairs to receive a gorgeous “tan” body.
In the time that I slipped my dress back on and strapped up my heels, my airbrush artist, Shae Esmaeili, had gotten herself a perfect little tatoo by guitarist and tatoo artist, Adam Daniel of Perri Ink. This is one of the luxuries I only flirted with and wish in retrospect I had allowed for abandon. But it’s not too late. Perri Ink, located in the heart of Melrose, provides kickin’ tattoos and piercings every day of the week. And, while you’re getting inked up or pierced in whatever local you desire, you mine as well pick up one of their sweet guitars, a motorcycle and some new rock-star duds, and get your Hollywood truly on.
To smoke or to vape? That may be a good question. If your answer is “to vape,” then to vape imported questionable juice or to vape organic FDA approved juice is a question you really ought to consider. The original industry leader of the craze, Vaperev (Vapor Revolution), set up shop behind a bar at the eco lounge and shared puffs of their FDA approved juices in flavors I seriously couldn’t get enough of. And, I am not a smoker or a “vaperer”. I’m just not into putting anything into my lungs. But, I was persuaded to give it a try at the event, because of VapeRev’s dedication to using all natural products. The flavors I tasted by their juice vendors, Ben Johnson’s Awesome Sauce, Mr. Good Vape and Midas, were supper yummy and felt pure to the inhale. They didn’t scratch my throat at all. It almost felt like I was blowing out spa steam. And the Joytech atomizer pen they offered was super elegant and beautifully clean. Vaprev even carries incredibly detailed hand carved pens that look like heirlooms. Owners Amber and E.J. Lee and their crew were fabulously kind, instructive and fun to be around. It’s their M.O. Head into their shop in Ceretos and they’ll set you up with the product lines that will serve you best to either help you transition out of smoking combustible cigarettes or if you’re already a vape fan, they’ll help to step your game up and get you into an even more healthy set of options.
