Catch The Surfing Fox at Santa Monica’s Pierside Hotel

The Surfing Fox is just a couple weeks old and is already creating excitement. Get social at this new relaxed sophisticated venue on the corner of Ocean and Colorado Avenue. As part of the new Pierside Hotel with views of the entrance to Santa Monica Pier, this retro casual Cali cool restaurant makes a perfect spot for happy hour or dining al fresco on the extended patio.

Begin your relaxed stint post-surf, post-beach, or post-shop with one of their inventive Foxtails – refreshing cocktail concoctions like Prickly Pear with Corazon Blanco tequila, prickly pear, hibiscus cordial, and lime rimmed with black lava salt; or the Coconut with Myer’s Dark Rum, Appleton signature rum, coconut, espresso, cacao, and cream. The sprawling bar features a unique selection of California-sourced spirits, beers, and local wines.

Pair your happy spirits with Surfing Fox’s Ceviche, uber-fresh Hamachi floating in mandarin coconut broth with chile, red onion, and charred orange. Plus, share the guacamole and fries both doused with furikake.

Coming from Michelin-awarded Chulita in Venice, Japanese Mexican Executive Chef David Yamaguchi provides a menu of fresh local California fare with innovative twists on familiar classics while allowing the freshness of ingredients to speak for themselves. Every bite has been carefully thought out as your taste buds will soon agree. Try the Koji-brined Roasted Chicken with Coconut Sauce and Green Sambal, a Hot Chicken Sandwich, or Fish Tacos. Our favorites included the Grilled Hangar Steak with chimichurri and smashed Japanese sweet potatoes and the Halibut with Yuzu Tomato Butter atop crispy glazed Brussels.

Dog owners will adore The Surfing Fox’s Canine Menu to appease their pup with a Barkuterie Board, Protein Bowl and Pawsicle.

For those who want to swing by in the morning, the hotel venue offers an approachable breakfast and coffee program with a coffeehouse-style menu. Order up early favorites such as varieties of La Colombe coffee, select tea options, pastries, and fresh pressed juices on your way to stroll the pier or promenade.

The sunset glow can be admired at one of several comfy couch lounge spaces or tables. Soak up the SoCal bliss and stay awhile.
