Dan Akroyd brings Mixology to the Magic Castle with Crystal Head Vodka

There’s something strange in the neighborhood. Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!! Or Dan Akroyd at Hollywood’s World Famous Magic Castle, especially when spooky things begin to happen like a piano playing your favorite song by voice request or a magician making your time of birth appear on a photograph inside a wallet. You might wonder if it’s magic or the masterful cocktail concoctions made with Crystal Head Vodka.

On November 6, 2023 guests were treated to an array of curated cocktail medleys in glass skulls by lifestyle expert and mixologist, Paul Zahn, with a Q&A discussion featuring legendary Dan Akroyd and artist RISK (@RiskRock), and of course, heart-stopping, jaw-dropping, mind-blowing, OMG-screaming magic! While magicians awakened our senses, we savored a Crystal Head Magic Mule with apple cider, ginger beer, and monin salted caramel while my husband downed the smooth vodka on the rocks and sampled an Onyx Paloma made from Crystal Head Onyx, pink grapefruit soda, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, and a grapefruit wheel.

Crystal Head Vodka uses the highest-quality ingredients and pristine water from Newfoundland, Canada, to create unique, additive-free, ultra-premium vodka expressions. As a distinctive finishing touch, the pure distillate is filtered through layers of Herkimer Diamonds. Crystal Head Vodka produces three expressions of vodka: original, made from locally sourced Canadian corn, Aurora, crafted from English wheat, and Onyx, crafted with Blue Weber Agave sourced from a single farm in Mexico.

Created for creatives, by creatives, legendary actor and comedian, Dan Aykroyd co-founded Crystal Head Vodka alongside John Alexander, a renowned American artist, and the designer of the iconic skull bottle. The brand routinely partners with artists and encourages the community to express creativity in new mediums.

The brand partnered with American graffiti artist RISK, and other renowned creatives to paint bottles donated by Crystal Head Vodka. These one-of-a-kind bottles were on display at the Magic Castle. We admired translucent skulls shining iridescent, some splattered with paint or rhinestones and crystals. Rockstar legend Billy Morrison’s artistic skull was amped with purple glitter and purple hair spikes. Another Crystal Head Vodks skull emerged half-red out of a Bloody Mary tomato soup can by Bobby Doran Art. We noticed the crystal clear skulls on table legs and others repurposed as chandelier lights while we imagined turning one of our own skull glassware pieces into a succulent plant holder or a candle holder.

Crystal Head Vodka’s iconic skull bottles were designed to represent life, power, and enlightenment – themes that resonate strongly with RISK.  He embodies tenacity and recognizes that the art world mirrors this relentless grind and views the skull as a powerful symbol of life’s duality and intricate juxtapositions.  The parallels between Crystal Head Vodka and art share creativity, inspiration, and quality.

Later in the week, Paul Zahn appeared on Access Daily with Dan Akroyd, Mario Lopez, and Kit Hoover to showcase his cocktail recipes inspired by some of Dan’s iconic show biz moments.

Crystal Head Vodka is now sold in over 75 countries around the world. For retail locations and more information, visit crystalheadvodka.com.
