Local Palm Springs tastemakers celebrated the series launch of Hulu’s new show, Mid-Century Modern, at the iconic Dinah Shore Estate. Owned by Leonardo DiCaprio for quite some time, this time capsule home is everything you want it to be. Designed by renowned architect Donald Wexler in 1964, the vintage paradise sprawls with pool house, artist studio, 3 bedroom guest wing donned in red, green, and blue (with matching bathrooms), a chef’s kitchen, and tennis court that connects with Kurt Douglas’s former home by an adjoining gate.

Once the playground of the stars and deemed Los Angeles’s hippest new suburb, Hollywood is placing the spotlight on the desert oasis of Greater Palm Springs! The new Hulu series follows the story of three best friends who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs. Starring lead actors Matt Bomer, Nathan Lane, and Nathan Lee Graham, Mid-Century Modern brings the eclectic yet vintage appeal of Palm Springs to the modern age in this comedic sitcom. Have you seen the first episode? I was definitely laughing out loud. In these times, this comedy is the relief we all need.

Throughout the show, viewers can gain an appreciation for Greater Palm Springs architecture, the downtown area, and the house where the trio lives – the iconic Dinah Shore Estate! Located in the prestigious Old Las Palmas neighborhood and named after American singer, actor, and female vocalist of the 1940s, Dinah Shore, the home is a luxurious oasis that captures the essence of desert living. The property is set on an expansive 1.3-acre of lush gardens landscaped to provide a sense of privacy and tranquility to guests. While the show was shot on a sound stage, it uses real footage of the home’s exterior!

The Dinah Shore Estate at 432 Hermosa is also a vacation rental property used for private events or getaways for around $3800 a night. Some of our favorite mid century modern details in the Dinah Shore home include shag carpeting, elegant curves, a sexy sunken bar, and floor to ceiling windows capturing the Palm Springs light making the indoor outdoor seamlessly blend.
