Ooh! Doma Kitchen makes Belgium Waffles that are light, fluffy, crispy…actually, perfect. I know this because I sampled their wares at Richstone Family Center’s 40th Birthday Beach Bash this summer. Needless to say, I think I might have gone back for thirds. Only a year and a half since its inception and the applause for the family owned cafe has grown so exponentially that it has come time already for Doma to move into a larger space. With their European-inspired dishes like homemade Borscht, Lagman and Lamb Plov that melt in your mouth and fuel the body with goodness, it’s no wonder that the folks of Redondo Beach and beyond have frankly fallen deeply in love.
Doma (meaning “home” in the Slavic language) provides delicious, healthy food in an eclectic beach environment, inspired from loving memories of owners’, Angie Corrent and Stan Mayzalis, home and their extensive world travels. Angie’s design background and Stan’s building experience fed into creating the enticing atmosphere for Doma Kitchen. While, Chef Kristina Miksyte has created a globally inspired menu prepared with fresh farmer’s market ingredients. Doma supports earth-friendly practices – always serving California cage-free eggs, free-range chicken and grass-fed lamb. All dishes are seasoned to perfection with healthful spices and zero trans fat oils. A wide variety of breakfast pastries and artisanal breads are baked daily using the finest and purest ingredients. Organic coffee and teas are brewed fresh and delicious juices and strawberry lemonade are squeezed in small batches to preserve freshness.

The dynamic trio is excited about both expanding the restaurant’s square footage as well as helping preserve the character of the neighborhood by remaining in the South Bay. “I’m really looking forward to sharing more of what we love with the people who love us with more leg room for our regulars and new friends as well.” says Corrente. Corrente and Mayzalis may tweak the name, but the upscale-casual menu and cozy atmosphere won’t change. “It will be exactly the same feel except everyone will be a lot more comfortable,” Corrente said.
And, don’t fret! Doma Kitchen is still open for breakfast, lunch and dinner at their original local in the heart of Redondo until October 12 and serving up lovely, delicious, healthy eats Tuesday through Sunday. LaLaScoop will be sampling their expanded menus and new digs in Redondo in the coming weeks. Check back for our article soon. But in the mean time, head out to 420 N.
