As Earth Day draws upon us, Kiehl’s on Montana in Santa Monica turned into a private event to unveil the environmental partnership with actors Elizabeth Olsen and Maggie Q. To help save the world, their new Limited Edition Label Art Collection of Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, will benefit Recycle Across America. A hundred percent of the net profits, up to $50,000 will be used to create 65,000 recycling labels for select K-12 schools nationwide.
Recycle Across America is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to delivering society-wide solutions that eliminate public confusion, stimulate the environmental economy and expedite progress. To date, Kiehl’s has raised $250,000 for RAA, supplying recycling labels to the following school districts: San Diego, Houston, Scottsdale, Culver City, and an additional 2,500 independent schools throughout the U.S.

“We know that recycling works when you do it right!” was the important message of the evening. This standardized labeling system with pictures will transform recycling. One school even saved $200,000 in fees when they used the labels. As mundane as a sticker sounds, it is a world changing solution to eradicate confusion of what goes where. Mitch Hedlund, founder and executive director of Recycle Across America was on hand to say a few words and accept the $50,000 donation.

“We started working with Recycle Across America in 2012 and have continued with them since. Their mission to introduce solutions that make recycling more simple, comprehensive and effective in the United States is perfectly aligned with our Recycle & Be Rewarded program. Since 2009, Kiehl’s has collected 2,500,000 empty Kiehl’s bottles from our shoppers and recycled them on their behalf, while also rewarding them with free products. It’s proven that by simplifying the process, we can truly create change. We hope to reach over 3,000,000 this year!” said Chris Salgardo, President, Kiehl’s USA.

The Limited Edition Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado series features Earth-inspired designs by socially conscious influencers Elisabeth Olsen (Mary-Kate and Ashley’s sister) and Maggie Q, depicting their vision of social responsibility. Both designs were created in collaboration with artist/sculptor Fernando Mastrangelo, of AMMA Studio in Brooklyn, who is known for his work with everyday materials (salt, coffee, sand & silica).
This past Wednesday the Montana Avenue Kiehl’s Since 1851 store spilled over with special guests, such as Dylan McDermott, Elvis Nolasco, Teddy Sears and many more. Guests sipped on healthy drinks from Pressed Juicery and coconut refreshing style cocktails made from Tito’s Homemade Vodka. The crowd mingled over artfully crafted tasty food bites from Akasha and DJ tunes from Orange is the New Black’s Taryn Manning.

Guests left with incredible skincare product goodies from Kiehl’s Since 1851, the fine skin care purveyors known for using natural ingredients and rewarding their customers for recycling by bringing back their empty jars or containers. Do your best to Recycle Right.
