Interactive Cooking at the Samsung LA Studio

“Simplicity is a sign of perfection. Thanks for cooking with me.” Those were the words that personable Chef Marcel Vigneron (Top Chef) wrote in my customized cookbook thanks to Samsung putting together this little momento for each guest, featuring the recipes we all helped make.

I was so excited to finally be able to check out the new Samsung Studio on Fairfax, right across from the Grove. An interactive cooking evening was not what I had in mind when I thought Samsung, but this night amped my idea of an enjoyable evening. Bill and Giuliana Rancic served us our first course along with Giuliana’s wine-to-go with the peelable lid called XO, G Wine. Chef Marcel treated guests to cooking tips while demonstrating what to do with each course, all while seeing the latest Samsung home appliances. Our first task was to shake our own pre-made ready-to-go salad that were nicely packed in mason jars with layers of flavor.

After the salad course, a delicious melt in your mouth braised coconut pork belly was served with rainbow carrots and brown rice, which guests were asked to finish with a dash of green seasoning. Then, the real cooking began, as guests went to work searing their own gigantic scallops to perfection on a personal grill, while grilling a cauliflower couscous concoction on the side with many accoutrements.

Later in the evening we watched Chef Marcel whip up some liquid nitrogen ice cream in vanilla lavender flavor and pour it over our Rosemary and Peach Bread Pudding. We learned from amiable Chef Marcel that he was off to cook at the White House for four days and was thinking of replicating this same menu we enjoyed in Washington. He divulged that he is opening two restaurants side by side on Melrose this fall. One will be plant based. Their names – Beafsteak and Undisclosed.

The Samsung Studio LA is open now through June daily from noon to 8:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy special entertainment events, home cooking demonstrations, summer programming and so much more.
