Planned Parenthood’s annual fundraiser, the PPLA Food Fare is back March 2, 2017 to support the reproductive health of the Los Angeles community. Named “the most eclectic fundraising food fest you’ve never heard of” by LA Weekly, guests will enjoy hundreds of gourmet food and drinks samples from over 150 of Southern California’s best restaurants, caterers and libation purveyors, all in support of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA).
This year culinary festivities will return to the Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar. Last year’s food frenzy was completely indulgent with the top restaurants and chefs in LA showing off their foodie prowess. I think everyone felt they needed to be carried out after such an extravagant and festive foodie day and evening, all for a worthwhile cause.
Food Fare began in 1979 with a cooking demonstration by Julia Child and has grown over the last 38 years to become one of Los Angeles’ oldest and most celebrated food events. Food Fare is PPLA’s largest fundraising event of the year, with proceeds benefiting its vital health care and education programs. As many of you know Katie Perry recently donated $10,000 to Planned Parenthood and shared how important the organization played in her own life, and how vital the organization is to so many woman across America.
For more than 50 years, PPLA has provided high-quality, confidential reproductive health care to women and men in Los Angeles County. The Planned Parenthood Los Angeles Guild responsible for hosting the event, is made up of a group of over 170 members dedicated to providing financial and volunteer support for PPLA. As we think about the future of our country, one thing is clear – Planned Parenthood’s doors need to stay open so that patients have access to the care they need – no matter what. Now more than ever, the communities PPLA serves need our support in this new reality – so that everyone can access health care in a safe and welcoming place.

PPLA’s 19 health centers throughout Los Angeles County provide care to nearly 150,000 women, men, and teens each year. Over 93% of the care PPLA provides is preventative, including life-saving cancer screenings, birth control, annual exams, and STD testing and treatment. PPLA’s education and community outreach programs reach nearly 60,000 women, men and teens in Los Angeles County each year.
PPLA Food Fare is proud to name Annie Miler of Clementine as the 2017 Food Fare Chef of the Year for her contributions to Los Angeles’ culinary scene and her dedication to Planned Parenthood’s mission. Clementine will be providing a special tasting menu at Food Fare’s VIP hour and will also be also participating in both the afternoon and evening sessions of the main event.
