Not a fan of gore or blood or violence, this new Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet had me closing my eyes, then averting my gaze to look at the audience for most of the first 2 episodes, but there is an audience who loves this kind of bloody horror comedy! The full series aired on Netflix Friday debuting Drew Barrymore and her onscreen husband actor Timothy Olyphant. Playing real estate agents named Sheila and Joel Hammond in the show, the demise starts as Sheila played by Drew is showing a listing, then pukes an insane amount all over the house, even barfing up an organ. Her husband seems weirdly optimistic, even when Sheila (Drew Barrymore) eventually starts eating pounds of raw meat, and all of a sudden resorts to human flash….. Who comes up with these ideas?

I was more enthralled by the premier party afterwards with its attention to every detail in the movie. Netflix’s creative team recreated the show at what appeared to be the suburban home getaway in the series, but really we were in Hollywood at the Lombardi House just a shuttle ride away from Arclight Cinemas.
