Rock n Reilly’s USC Innovates on the Irish Pub in All the Right Ways

Go to any major city in America, or really, in the entire world, and there is one thing you are almost certainly guaranteed to find- an Irish pub. If you walk into one, whatever diverse surroundings and stresses you encountered outside melt away with the warm air, aged wooden bar tops, and memorabilia from the Emerald Isle. The experience you have is comfortably consistent and feels hundreds of years (and pints) old.

Rock & Reilly’s newest location respects this tradition, rightfully so. But just like the USC Village Campus where it is situated, it recognizes the value in taking what is great from the past and mixing it with a bit of the modern. USC and it’s neighborhood have undergone significant changes in the past decade, and the Village Campus, with is red brick facades, ambling walkways, and an incredible selection of eateries and drinkeries, is an obvious example. When you walk through Rock & Reilly’s relaxed, 2,000 sq.-foot and 50+ seating outdoor patio and through its inviting doors, you will see all of the familiar accoutrements described above. You will see some new things as well, including a lounge area with over 30 huge TVs showing the best of Trojan athletics and major sporting events.

The large indoor bar is where you will find more innovations. Of course, you can order a glass of Guinness and a dram of a diverse selection of whiskeys. But you can also avail yourself of the 24 craft beers on tap, the signature shots, or even one of three kinds of “Reilly mules”- all of which are also available at a discount during Happy Hour.

And then you find your table, ready to order some grub to balance out that booze. Sure, you could order one of the traditional, stick-to-your-bones pub stables. The Reilly’s Irish Nachos are something special- thick-cut potatoes, hearty bits of bacon, nacho cheese and pieces of corn (which does work!). The Mac & Cheese is topped with black truffle and sautéed in a signature four cheese blend- enough said! And the Dirty Irish Burger is not for the faint of heart- two grass-fed beef patties, Irish cheddar, and fried pickles, all on a potato bun.

It’s when you flip over your menu where the real fun begins- you see, the Rock & Reilly’s USC location also has an all-new plant-based menu. For every Irish standard, there is a startlingly comparable (and in some cases, perhaps even better) vegan alternative. Don’t sleep on the Hot “Chicken” Sandwich and the Fishless and Chips- both have a perfectly breaded crunchy exterior and a seemingly impossible but somehow perfect meatless interior.

Rock & Reilly’s USC is the new “flagship” location for the brand, with sister restaurants on the Sunset Strip and in Park City, DTLA, Las Vegas, LAX and soon, Nashville. Open for lunch, dinner, and libations seven days a week (and for every sports game), 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. with free 2-hour underground parking with validation.

If you are looking for a quick meal, you can enjoy their separate, simple counter-service dining area. Happy hour runs Monday – Friday from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m., and there is a featured weekend brunch Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
