For superb wine in a dreamy mid-century modern setting, Canopy Wine Lounge is another exciting reason to linger longer in the desert. Sample a canopy of wines from around the world, even as far south as Patagonia, in this sophisticated indoor-outdoor destination just one month old and right in the heart of downtown Palm Springs.

Perfect for a first date, an afternoon on the terrace, a sunset soiree, or a pre-dinner vino with dramatic views of the San Jacinto Mountains, you might not want to leave this classy wine lounge for any other reservation. The menu here is just as filling and satisfying. Double-decker charcuterie boards arrive loaded with generous cheeses, Mediterranean olives, Marcona almonds, dried apricots, fig jam, crackers, salamis, and prosciutto. A hearty half portion ($30) easily can satisfy 2-3 people.

Order the filling Argentinean empanadas stuffed with chorizo, mushroom, beef, or onions. It may be hard to resist the warm rustic-shaped baguettes accompanied with Canopy seasonal butter. Discover artisanal sandwiches, sustainably sourced California Caviar, and dessert bites like Dulce De Leche Alfajores (like a cookie sandwich) original or covered in dark chocolate.

Stepping into Canopy Wine Lounge is like arriving at someone’s carefully curated Palm Springs home, with rich fabrics in various hues, walnut paneling, terrazzo patterned tile floors, custom banquette seating, and a frame wall with Samsung TV hiding as art. The bar is accented with an illuminated wall-size mural of a desert garden anchored by white chandeliers shaped like cacti. Your eyes are drawn to white poking canvas palm fronds and a floor-to-ceiling glass wine fridge. The design god of the desert, Christopher Kennedy, is responsible for this carefully curated aesthetic and for making all the parts seamlessly work together.

After you settle into the classy sexy vibe, it’s time to focus attention on the wine list. Select from close to 150 wines or purchase any bottle for retail. Super friendly Managers Phil Barrood and Liz Swartz guide novices and aficionados through the wine journey based on preferences and ignite tastebuds with new options.

The impressive wine selection includes some of the world’s most renowned winemakers, such as Michel Rolland, Philippe Melka, Matt Sands, Alberto Antonini, and Juan Pablo Murgia. Conceived by Owner Noah Mamet, former U.S. Ambassador to Argentina and Palm Springs resident, along with Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Estate Wines, the new Canopy Wine Lounge venture is managed by Director of Operations Ellis Delahousay and Winemaker Joshua Kelly.

The lounge features Ambassador Mamet’s personal wine portfolio from Mendoza, Argentina under the label, ‘Gran Diplomat,’ showcasing Malbec, Cabernet Franc Blend, and Red Blend and Rosé. In February guests will be able to indulge in the exclusive experience of tasting the first and only wine made in Palm Springs, Desert Wren, which is finishing its aging process on premise in their terracotta-hued wine amphora.

Sip some of our favorite discoveries – a dry Muscat from Amador (located in California’s Sierra Nevada), a sparkling Brut from Patagonia, Justice Cab from Napa, and a rich bold Cab Franc from Tuscany.
Admire those luscious colors of wine with every sip. Try a new vintage and toast to the good life in Palm Springs!
