Last night, the chic Riviera 31 lounge and bar at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills played backdrop for the exclusive screening of Denim Hunters. This playful series will journey to the far reaches of the country in search of rare, unique and exceptional denim, told through the eyes of the show’s first host, Hayley Kiyoko. Denim Hunters premiers TODAY, June 25th on POPULAR TV.
POPULAR TV is a new digitally and video-led media brand that launched in March by Marvin Scott Jarrett and Jaclynn Jarrett, featuring original content and video programming. The quarterly print component hit newsstands for the first time in April 2015 featuring cover star Sofia Richie. I had a chance to speak to Jaclynn and Marvin who are splitting their time between New York and Los Angeles. It sounds like they are rolling out an interesting lifestyle series that will include travel, fashion, style, music, and cultural highlights.
The Denim Hunters episode started out at a shop called Foxhole in Silverlake, where authentic personalized denim can be found. People in LA want unique threads, and what better place to tailor your old denim, than here. The show allowed us to see some of the ways you could enhance your denim, like back and forth stitching, acid wash, contrast patterns, or just taking your one-of-a-kind vintage denim (perhaps from your grandma) and have it cut and sized to fit you for today’s lifestyle. They showed a ‘booty bag’ made from jeans, and how to spot rare Levis.
Hayley Kiyoko, actress (Jem + Holograms, CSI Cyber) and musician, hosted the premiere of DENIM HUNTERS, which she hosts. LA’s most fashionable young starlets came to celebrate and support the show’s debut, such as model Sami Miro, actress Chloe Bridges, blogger Dani Song, actress Georgie Flores, actress Kelli Berglund, singer Mat Devine, fashion blogger Nikia Lee, actor Colin Owens, singer Colette Carr, blogger Thania Peck, blogger Diana Madison, and actress Elle Winter. We enjoyed speaking to fashionista blogger @BlankItinerary most of the evening over a candy sugar high.

Guests danced to beats provided by DJ SaintClair who was rocking her own DL1961 denim, while sipping specialty SVEDKA Vodka cocktails and munching on gourmet popcorn and Wonka Candy. Hayley dressed in sparkly blue shoes swinging her blond pony kicked things up a notch as she performed for the crowd with her unique voice and impressive drum beating dance-y tunes.
