From JULY 13 to AUGUST 16, the multimedia installation from Annenberg Space for Photography at Skylight Studios will feature a digital installation that includes themed images and curated short films that showcase the creation of music and celebrate sound by way of social media.

About the Emerging Experience Sound Artists & Content
365 Docobites’s “184-Hague” and “206-Aix-En-Provence”
The 365 docobites team, Epiphany & Carl, traveled across five continents for an entire year to introduce their online followers to a stranger-a-day via a vlog of short documentaries. Their videos at Skylight will feature a string quartet and a dance piece set to ambient music and John Cage.
Kelli Anderson— “How to Make a Paramount Record” & “Talking While Female”
Anderson contributes two films to Emerging Experience Sound– “How to make a Paramount Record,” a stop-motion film portraying an artist in the studio and “Talking While Female,” an animation created in collaboration with NPR illustrating a report on the perception of women’s voices.
Deep Green Sea— “The Art of Making, Alma Flamenca”
Pieces of wood, love, knowledge and 299 hours of work, condensed in a 3 minute film. The “Art of Making” film documents the making of a single guitar, capturing the precision of science with the elegance and resourcefulness of art.
Finally. Studios—“Understand Music”
This experimental animation is about the attempt to understand all the parts and bits of music!
Crowd-Sourced Photo Display
How can YOU participate? Emerging Experience Sound will present an ever-changing slideshow of guest-submitted photos in the key of sound. Just revisit your Instagram feed and hashtag your favorite concert photos with #EmergingSound for the chance to have them shown within the Emerging Experience Sound exhibit at Skylight Studios!

Saturday, July 11th (7pm): Jason Bentley and Mark Seliger: In Conversation
In this Skylight Studios preview event for the upcoming Sound in Focus concert series, KCRW’s Jason Bentley and world-renowned photographer Mark Seliger sit down to discuss the crossroads of photography and music with moderator Merle Ginsberg from The Hollywood Reporter.
Saturday, July 18th (5pm-7:30pm): “No Cameras Allowed” Screening with Marcus Haney
An evening of film and conversation hosted by photographer Marcus Haney. Haney will screen his film “NO CAMERAS ALLOWED,” a documentary that chronicles his experience breaking into the photography industry by slipping into and shooting the biggest music festivals in the country including Coachella and Bonnaroo. These images ultimately led to a job as the Mumford and Sons tour photographer. Haney will share intimate stories on the making of the film, as well as how his career has expanded from concert photography to travel, portraiture and more.
Sunday, July 19th (1pm-3pm): “Make Your Thing” Lecture with Jesse Thorn
Creator and host of NPR’s Bullseye radio show and podcast, Jesse Thorn – who became the youngest national public radio host ever –has been sharing his hour-long talk “Make Your Thing,” to sold-out crowds around the world. “Make Your Thing” is Thorn’s how to on what he calls a “12 Point Program for Absolutely, Positively 1000% No-Fail Guaranteed Success.” He turned his college radio show into an independent media powerhouse and his talks inspire others to make their career aspirations a reality in the digital age.

Skylight Studio’s Interactive Gravity Room
Skylight will also continue to offer the playful and innovative Gravity Room, which allows visitors to turn the art of photography on its side. An off-kilter set creates the illusion that guests are defying gravity. This upended playground provides a fun photo opportunity and complementary photo prints make a great souvenir of your visit to Emerging Experience.
