Not too long ago, Melissa Curtin (co-founder of LaLaScoop) previewed the spot and experienced Katie’s cryosauna therapy first hand, and absolutely loved it. Although my aching ligaments and joints could have benefited from the frigid cold liquid nitrogen chamber, I passed for the time being, and rather focused my attention to Brooke’s new superfood (and divine, I might add) MylkShakes, her Renew 3, 5 and 7 day juice cleanse series, as well as special guest Fruits to the Roots organic, non-GMO, pure herbal and botanical masks at their Beauty Cleanse Preview Party on October 22nd.

I first became familiar with Mylk at Blue Bottle Coffee on Abbot Kinney. I was ready to cop a taste of espresso after going cold turkey for months and figured if I was going to do it, I’d “cheat” where my drink would be amazing, pure and artfully crafted. Mylk is an incredible sprouted almond milk, free of the crazy additives you can’t help but find in every other option at the store. Mylk has become a local favorite. And now, to top it off, Brooke has created a collection of Mylkshakes that are light textural blends that combine an assortment of lovely ingredients: Tumeric Almond, Cocao Gogi, Green Maca, Pistachio Mint. All four are amazing, but I have to say the Pistachio Mint is my TopFav!

Any cleanse is tough for me, but the life saver in my opinion was the Honey Vanilla Mylk (which provides vitamin E to protect skin from sun damage, healthy fats and protein and also anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties) and the Green Maca Mylkshake (which balances hormones, hydrates, fights acne, destroys free-radicals, promotes growth of new skin cells, improves skin tone, and provides a source of protein). Both gave a tasty bit of heartiness to my liquid gastro experience and gave my body so much of what it needs. My favorite Renew juice of the day was the second in the line up, Radiant Skin, because it was sweet and balanced. This berry rich concoction brightens skin tone, helps heal acne, scars and discoloration, boosts collagen productions, aids in digestion, and promotes weight loss. Who doesn’t want all of that? Over the years I have put in a concerted effort to use only natural products on my hair and skin. And I have found a couple of products that my body has responded to very well and become loyal to. In fact, I recently read an article that claimed the idea that hair and skin products hit a plateau when you use them is actually false. What is happening, the author said, is that your hair and skin overload on processed and unnatural additives. Your body in essence finally has enough.
