Wine Wednesdays in The Larder at Tavern Brentwood

Don’t miss Winemaker Wednesdays at Tavern. James Beard award-winning chef/author Suzanne Goin and award-winning restaurateur Caroline Styne welcome their winemaker friends the first Wednesday of every month for Angelenos to enjoy an informal sampling of their current vintages.

First up was Jeff Fischer from Habit Wines, Santa Ynez on October 4th. Besides his delicious wines like Habit Red and Habit Grüner Veltliner, we noshed on exceptional charcuterie medleys while meeting new friends in this classy fun establishment in the heart of San Vicente in Brentwood.

Caroline Styne is a huge fan of Fischer, stating, “He’s been able to achieve a balance in his wines in that they definitely speak to the area that they’re from, but they’re not overblown, fruity wines. They have a great structure and acidity. They are serious to a point, but they are also friendly and easy to drink.”

Pricing is $20 per person and includes four 2-ounce tastes of wines and a selection of cheeses, charcuterie and Larder Baking Company breads. Discounted bottles will be for sale to the public. Reservations not required.

Did you know after seven years of making wine in his own basement, voiceover actor Jeff Fischer (who plays the character based on him in the animated series “American Dad”) reached his potential as a garage vintner and after striking up an old-school apprenticeship with friend and iconic winemaker Doug Margerum, Fischer became a cellar rat? He provided manual labor in exchange for the use of Margerum’s facilities and knowledge.
