From famed ramen restaurant Tsujita comes another Sawtelle winner, Killer Noodle, making customers happily sweat with their Chinese dan dan noodles customizable for numbness and spiciness. The restaurant with mod tacky red leather decor also has a grand bar accented with various spice jars. Find yourself a cozy booth to indulge in your noodle mania.
My husband immediately took on the noodle challenge and made it to a Level 4 Spiiiiicy sweating all the way, while I kept the heat low with the flavorful Tokyo Bowl at a Level 2. The Tokyo Bowl was my preferred bowl with more flavor perhaps due to the heavy sesame paste and pork-based broth, and numbing Sichuan peppercorn chili oil.
Not a spicy fan, I started with the Original Style which can be ordered with or without soup. I chose soup with chicken, pork broth, garlic, pickle, tofu, ground pork, green onion, bean sprouts, cabbage, and fresh red pepper topped with a poached egg.
Beware! The menu comes with warnings like “First-time visitors should refrain from levels 5 and 6, and order the yogurt drink if suffering from too much heat. Please take care of your bottoms.”
Move over Japanese ramen noodles (two other Tsujita restaurants are nearby), here comes Chinese Sichuan spicy noodles!
