Jeremy’s Hotel’s Joao Lobby Bar is more than outstanding cocktails

The Jeremy Hotel on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood offers an open elegant space with mod mid-century couches, luxurious textures, mood lighting, and pretty much gorgeous Instagram-worthy shots everywhere. Etcho Cafe is open from breakfast to evening in the lobby level. Pick up a Calif-fresh breakfast sandwich, premium coffee, cold-pressed juice, or grab a sandwich to go for that Runyon Canyon hike.

But what we didn’t know til recently is how incredible the food is at the Joao Cocktail Bar, just off the lobby. It is almost like a best-kept secret. Step into Old Hollywood glam and cozy up on a couch in this sexy dark upscale lounge. If it’s not too hot, enjoy your night at the intimate outdoor patio for sensational cocktails reimagined with a touch of glamour.

A baby rosebud rests in the center of my Ava cocktail concocted with Cyrano Roxanne, Combier Rose, Lemon, Black Pepper, and Egg White. A perfectly placed chili pepper drapes the Sunrise on Sunset cocktail glass of Tequila, Red Chile Peppers, Lime, Cilantro, and Agave Nectar, my husband’s preferred choice. For some added buzz, sip the Joao Espresso Martini with Vodka, Cafe Lolita, and Espresso. Classic spirits swirl and shake with house-made infusions and culinary precision to produce wistful yet bold flavors, paired with crave-worthy bites.

Begin your evening interlude by sharing numerous bites, like Crisp Brussel Sprouts with almonds, dates and honey and the generous portion of Burrata with stone fruit and pretzel bread. The Tuna Poke Bowl with Brown Rice, Kale, Edamame, Carrot, Mango, Onion, and Ginger Soy offers a flavorful refreshing summer medley. For “Large Plates,” savor the tender Miso Black Cod or for more heartier appetites, try the Jeremy Burger or Impossible Burger with fries or salad. Everything we sampled surprised us with not only the presentation but the freshness and thoughtfulness of the ingredients in the dish.

Joao is way more than a cocktail bar!

Happy hour is offered 4pm–6pm daily, with a selection of specialty cocktails, wines by the glass, beer, and small plates priced $5–$10.

Valet parking is available on the lobby level, down the ramp off of Sunset Boulevard ($12 for the first 2 hours with Joao validation), and you’ll find Joao on the same level.
