Bobs and short short hairstyles are back in fashion. Maybe its the New Year sparking change, a 90’s revival, or a newfound freedom, but we’ve been spotting shorter cuts all over LA. Gone are the days that just long free flowing hair is sexy because today’s 2020 short manes are hotter than ever.

These short face-framing ‘dos cropped to showcase a beautiful face can also be found more and more on celebrities too. Not knowing what kind of look I wanted when arriving at Bomane Salon in Beverly Hills, I knew I was ready for something new.

Entering this bold art splashed hair salon in an historic landmark just off Wilshire, it’s hard to not be intriqued by the lifesize colorful murals with dramatic messages like “Success is Stumbling from Failure to Failure with no Loss of Enthusiasm.” The husband wife team, a dreamy model-liscious duo is part of the artistic talent – not just in the hair department. The artwork known as Mr. Nice by salon owner and former pro boxer-turned-model Sonny Henty can be found donning each salon space, from the waiting room to the washing hair area reminding geusts “You Belong Here”  in a neon heart.

To top of the decor in this 3,600 square foot place, mystical crytals are hidden in the walls for good joujou and hopefully a good haircut. Before my hair appointment even starts, I watch girls get hair extensions and sun kissed color shades while drooling over the dainty jewelry line at the counter designed by the female owner, celebrity hairstylist and extensions guru Andrea Jaclyn. I haven’t even had my hair appointment and I’ve already justified Christmas money from my in-laws going towards the teeny gold ruby flecked cherry earrings from STONED Jewelry (@stonedjewelryla).
As my grey looms in my hairline every few months, my color is enhanced first by color expert Madison Alexis who ensures it looks natural by adding low lights to enhance my already beachy blond hues. A hair massage lulls me into meditative bliss as she makes sure to deeply condition my now highlighted tresses.
Marisa Mitchell is up next in line to transform my locks and this time she ops for a look that I realize later is much like her own. Due to a cheap disastrous former hair trim, she slices and snips my hair for what feels like the longest haircut of my life. I am not complaining because I am all about this perfectionism. Voila! My short bob gives me a new found freedom – less maintance but a new look that takes me a few days to grow into.
Bomane’s celebrity roster includes the likes of Sharon Stone, Kesha, Lisa Vanderpump, Felicity Huffman, Kesha, Stacy Keibler, Meghan Trainor, and more. Bomane means beautiful hair (BO like the French word beaux). Besides cut and color/highlights, Keratin treatments and blowouts ($65 and up) are also offered. Expect tea, coffee, bubbly, and more throughout your service.
And with this new hair ease, I tousle my locks thinking #shorthairdontcare.
Just make sure to book your appointment ahead because this salon is hot. Valet is available for $8
