Here are some our favorite foodie discoveries at COLONY LA:
GG Kitchen – From Rome to LA
Score an authentic pizza with Italian ingredients from the heart of Rome’s “Hysteria de Pietro.” The 100-year-old dried sourdough recipe creates pies that are light, crunchy, and fluffy. The menu offers unique options that I haven’t seen on other LA menus. We loved the Burrata with Prosciutto and the Diavalo with spicy salami, organic tomatoes, and mozzarella. Don’t miss an order of Suppli (like Arancini but long and skinny) stuffed with classic Pomodoro, iconic Cacio e Pepe, or truffle!

Add a dessert pizza to your order such as warm Nutella and Strawberries with shaved coconut or The Colony with mozzarella, Brie cheese, honey, walnuts, cinnamon, and EVOO – as they all come doused with only the best olive oil.

Harold & Belle’s TO-GEAUX – New Orleans in LA
Transport yourself to New Orleans with an order from this Cajun and Creole restaurant by Harold and Belles Restaurant which has been serving LA for over 50 years. A Shrimp Po’Boy should be at the top of your order because these are hard to come by in California. The fried shrimp are huge and work so nicely in the soft roll but the Fried Shrimp order is also worthy as the generous portion was enough for two meals or two people. The Catfish Nuggets was a surprising favorite. Add in some Cajun waffle fries, New Orleans potato salad, red beans, and rice, gumbo, or jambalaya and you basically transported yourself back to the South.

The Peach Cobbler is amazing. We wish we ordered a few extra to-go. We liked this pie better than the beignets which are hard to enjoy unless you eat them right away. Our second favorite dessert was the Louisiana Bread Pudding with whiskey sauce.

Muy Thai – Thai Thai Time
Only at COLONY for a few months now, don’t miss the insanely flavorful Beef Pad Kra Pao (which became 2 meals for me) in your choice of spice level. Mild is the way I go, but also consider an order of Pad Thai with shrimp or chicken and end with the Mango Sticky rice, of course! Check out their Curries of the Month.

Main Chick – Hot Chicken Satisfaction
Order a chicken sandwich combo of your choice and select your spice level. We like the Spicy Hot Chicken Sandwich Combo with 3 spicy hot chicken tender pieces + seasoned crinkles fries + sauces + pickles + a drink. Don’t miss out on the Ube cheesecake.
