Tiny, gorgeous, sweet and super fit, fit, fit, Payal Kadakia moved to New York City some years ago and found herself in search of ballet classes to no avail. So, this innovative go-getter started a service that located different types of gyms for fitness enthusiasts, thereby creating a solution for herself and others fitness enthusiasts. Her business then grew into a means to not only identify, but gain access to a growing amount of boutique gyms all over New York City. It offers a “pass” if you will to hot hidden gems. Soon, ClasssPass settled into the city of Boston as well. And in a mere 365 days from conception to the present, Class Pass has grown exponentially. We’re psyched that they’ve decided to land and grow here too.
ClassPass’ LA launch was an incredible two-day whirlwind that started at Exhale Spa at Loews Hotel in Hollywood with an elegant, feminine and fun Cardio Fusion Barre class and culminated at Flywheel in West Hollywood with an incredibly intense and empowering spin class. The people of ClassPass and both boutique gyms were friendly and super excited to be part of the launch. It was a total blast working out with them! I am energized and ready to explore more places and push my body to new limits.
The Barre studio in Exhale Spa is brand spanking new and absolutely spectacular. Petite in size, the triangular-shaped space is mirrored and windowed all the way around, enabling you to gaze outside above the rooftops of Hollywood and onto Loews gorgeous poolside patio. The class was amazing. I had not taken a ballet class since I was four years old, and somehow the foundational lessons I learned as a tiny tot came back. I felt my shoulder blades moving back, my chest rising, my chin lifting up, my body and limbs flowing as we were led to push and pull and stretch and move through a series of elegant effective exercises. I felt feminine, invigorated and definitely wanting more. A lovely perk of taking one of the many Cardio Fusion classes at Exhale Spa is their generous offering to stay and enjoy the spa and pool.
I’ve been dying to get into Flywheel ever since I took the famed BOOTYcamp with Lacey Stone, who is also a hotshot spin instructor at Flywheel in Larchmont (Lacey Stone’s Fitness Phenomenon, LaLaScoop). She’s ultra motivating and so much fun, and I’ve heard that she exemplifies the culture of Flywheel. As it turns out, the rumor is right on. Victor Self lead the ClassPass charge brilliantly at the West Hollywood Flywheel studio. He inspired us, pushed us, and kept pushing us past where we thought our limits might rest. I left sweaty, satiated, smiling, and eventually sore. I was a competitive cyclist as a kid, so there’s something that happens when I get on a spin bike anyways that takes me back to the exhilarating feeling of racing hard around the velodrome or the winding streets of the island where I grew up and trained. I sink in and lose myself in that feeling just about every time I saddle up on a spin bike. But, the vibe at Exhale and the layered style and skill of Victor’s instruction was way beyond the regular. It was absolutely phenomenal. He challenged and inspired me, and made it fun and competitive. I can’t wait to go back as soon as I can, and I hope to see you there.
At both events there was such a positive energizing rush. Fresh sampling of the healing juices from Urban Remedy sparked our taste buds and regenerated our bodies. And, we were given a sweet little Classpass bag filled with fun treats, complete with a sexy little ClassPass tank and sweet ClassPass water tin. In fact, get this! The first five LaLaScoop readers to sign up for ClassPass and Tweet or Instagram a picture and message about your first ClassPass experience will receive a tank or bottle too! Make sure to tag both LaLaScoop and ClassPass in your post.
You can sign up for a month or successive months with ClassPass. Do it, and you’ll free yourself from monotony, meet new people, explore more places, and to top it off you’ll begin to work your body in a multitude of ways that will stretch you out of a plateau and get you on track to get super fit and inspired to try more!
