Tacos at LOQUI are incredibly satisfying. This may be due to the special scatch-made flour tortillas or the ingredients that make me feel like I’m back in Mexico. Cofounded and led by Mexican-born Ari Ampudia, LOQUI celebrates the connection between familial culture and Mexican food. LOQUI recreates the flavors and simplicity of a classic taqueria.

It is impossible to not eat one or two on your drive home. We recommend dining outside so every bite is nice and warm. Sit outside at the Culver City Platform location or Downtown LA’s Arts District on their open-air patio centered around towering cacti.

Our favorite tacos include the chicken taco, pork taco, and surprisingly the mushroom taco – all sizable portions. Sides of chips and guacamole, rice and beans, and quesadillas are also available.

Did you know Loqui started out as a pop-up at Tartine Bakery in San Francisco? For three years the team prepared recipes that brought unique Mexican tastes to life offering their loyal following one item from a rotating menu. In 2016, LOQUI opened its first brick and mortar in LA’s Culver City with the goal of serving casual Mexican that embodied the flavor and soul of delicious food found at their favorite taquerias throughout Mexico.

“We are thrilled to bring honest Mexican food to taco lovers in the vibrant Arts District,” says Ampudia. “Establishing roots in the walkable, culturally rich neighborhood marks an exciting moment for us.” Located in the Third & Traction development — the former home of the historic Southern California Supply Company — the space reflects the building’s original industrial character with a nod to Mexican architecture.

Snag a PLATE like the Chicken Plate with guacamole, rice, beans, and pickled onion so you can make your own tacos at home. Just like the taco options, choose from chicken, beef, pork, or mushrooms PLATE.

Enjoy a Mexican craft beer including Cervecería de Colima and Wendlandt as well as Baja California wines. Take home a refreshing Jaimaca or a Mexican Coke.
