Launched almost two years ago in Nevada, CALICHE RUM is the successful collaboration of nightlife mastermind Rande Gerber and renowned sixth-generation family-owned rum business owner Roberto Serralles of Destileria Serralles. Caliche Rum has been added to the lengthy portfolio of rums created by his family’s distillery. Lucky me, had the pleasure of meeting Roberto recently in LA and asking him a few questions about his family’s almost 150 year old Puerto Rican rum.
How is Caliche Rum different?
The rum is unique because we blend carefully crafted and selected aged rums which we distill five times. We purposefully remove the color and impurities to ensure the smoothest finish while retaining the traditional rum flavor for a superior taste profile.
Is it better to sip the rum on the rocks or is it better to mix in cocktails?
The smooth aged white rum works wonderfully in cocktails and can also be sipped on the rocks. Since rum is made in over 50 countries, its flavor varies greatly depending on where it’s made. Caliche is the perfect spirit to blend with an ever-growing number of cocktails. It’s great for tropical weather drinks, of course, but it’s also a year round spirit. Caliche rum makes an easy match with a variety of flavors from coconut to pineapple to spice.
This super premium smooth white Rum was on hand recently for an event we covered at Three Day Rule at Bergomot Station in Santa Monica. Guests enjoyed sipping the rum with its unique crisp taste. Its vanilla and citrus flavor leave you with a hint of oak. We liked the rum cocktails infused with lime, coconut water, and berries. Caliche Rum has continued to receive top honors and accolades from experts in the spirits and hospitality industry.
Sip Caliche; it’s Aged Well, but Not Well Behaved.
