The best thing you can do right now when operating against an invincible enemy is stay home but in order to save our food world – SHOP LOCAL and SUPPORT LOCAL. Most of the restaurants are on the verge of collapse. Support your local restaurant by ordering to-go.

After this COVID lockdown crisis comes to end and the world can venture out safely, we know that dining in a restaurant again with oceanside views here in Malibu will bring tears of joy. Consider indulging in and supporting one of these Malibu establishments.

Tramonto Malibu – homemade Italian across from Carbon Beach

Order online at Tramontomalibu.com for takeout and delivery. Delivery is offered within a 6-mile radius.

Always supporting locals in times of need, Tramonto often generously donates to healthcare workers and those in financial need. Thankfully their entire menu is available still today. We adore their gnocchi dishes, salads, and lasagna. You may like their Malibu Cobb Salad, Homemade ravioli, or Margherita Pizza. Cheer yourself up with their tiramisu or a bottle of wine to-go!

The Cliffdiver – where Mexican meets California Pacific

A test kitchen menu is featured now from their soon to be launched concept – Beach Bird. They are offering family-style meals, Cliffdiver classics, and Cocktails To Go. See their Instagram @cliffdivermalibu or website for the menu options like Burrito, tacos, Quesadillas, Fire Grilled Chicken (choice of citrus marinade or traditional Al Pastor) which includes 3 sides, salad, tortillas or bread for $21.99.

Nicolas Eatery – family-owned French infusion

Think California fresh with French Flair. Did you know the owner-chef once managed the French Laundry and Bouchon? Nicolas Eatery is a family affair. Nicolas’s wife works with him in the kitchen and their sons serve and manage logistics.

Expect an updated Farm to Table Seasonal Menu to-go and packaged beverages to-go!

Dishes you may love include the Lobster Roll with asparagus, Boef Bourgignon, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich, Avocado Toast, Truffle Fries, Salmon Tartar, Lobster Mac and Cheese, Malibu Toast, Spicy Lamb Sausage with fries, Cheeseburger or the Beyond Burger, and more

Soups include onion, pea, corn, tomato, and shitake mushrooms.

For healthier options, salads include Bibb, Frisee, and Endive with grapes and crumbled blue cheese, Goat Cheese Salad, and Spinach Salad with purple kale, dried apricot, candied walnuts. Lobster, salmon, tuna, grilled or fried chicken, and New York steak can be added to any salad.

Broad Street Oyster Co – did you say lobster roll?

In Malibu Village, Broad Street Oyster Co continues with its fresh seafood like warm lobster rolls and fries, Caesar (and sometimes with anchovies and lobster), Clam Chowder, Calamari Steak, Fries with old bay aioli (even Gwyneth Paltrow gave them a love shout-out on the gram), Fish and Chips, House Salad, Burger and Fries, Mushroom Roll, Veggie Burger, BLAT, Charred Broccolini, Tomato Soup, Fish Tacos, Cape Cod Classic Chips, Grilled Cheese and more. The menu sometimes changes.

Delivery available in Downtown LA and Eastside via Postmates and Caviar. In Malibu, they can also be found on Uber Eats.

Cholada Thai – authentic Thai just west of Topanga

Across from the ocean, find this funky beach shack serving the best traditional Thai curries, noodles, salads and weekday lunch specials. This beloved family-run venue has been serving the Malibu community since 2000.  Some of our favorites include the crab fried rice, fried spring rolls, Mussaman curry with shrimp, pad thai with chicken, Cholada’s Seafood, Tom Kah with shrimp, and Thai iced tea.

Carbon Beach Club – Malibu Beach Inn provides seasonal California cuisine

Hours: 7 am – 10 pm. Order through food apps or call 310 460 7509 for Curbside Pickup.

The hotel is still open with only room service.

The To-Go menu has expanded to include more of their signature appetizers and mains like Mushroom Arancini, Calamari, Tomato Soup, burgers, pasta favorites, Fish and Chips, and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Pickup can be paired with to-go wine, beer, or cocktails all at reasonable prices. Peruse the MENU. 

Taverna Tony’s – little piece of the Mediterranean – traditional Greek recipes

Start with their Taramosalata Dip and house-baked pita, Grilled Eggplant, or the Vegetarian’s Paradise. Spanokopita. Chicken Soup with Orzo, Greek Peasant Salad, Lamb Souvlaki, Grilled Branzino, Filet Mignot… the options for traditional Greek family recipes are endless. Tra Di Noi – classic Italian at Malibu Country Mart

Pasta, risotto, salads, pizza, fish, antipasti. Everything is fresh with some produce coming from local Thorn Family Farm, Malibu Farmer’s Market, and Malibu Olive Oil Company.  Check out the MENU.

Pick up your meals-to-go at their takeout window. Plenty of room to feel safe for social distancing outside.

Cafe Habana – street style corn, salads, Cubanos, tacos, and more MexiCali

Hours: 11 – 8:00 pm.  Takeout and curbside pickup. See MENU HERE.

You may not see Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford or their kids at this time, but you can still order your favorite grilled corn, Taco salad, burger, fish tacos, Grilled Veggie or Kale Caesar to-go!

Marmalade Cafe – fresh California cuisine

Hours: 11 – 8:00 pm. Takeout with the full menu available. They will also bring your order to your car if requested.

Brunch favs include smoked salmon and lox, breakfast tacos, and Bacon, cheddar, and arugula ‘Grits and Eggs’. Chorizo and Eggs, the Paleo Power Breakfast, or the 7 Grain Almond Granola Pancakes might excite you. LUNCH options are endless and DINNER is filled with comfort food dishes and healthy eats.

D’Amores Famous Pizza -pizza, subs, pasta, classic entrees 

Hours:  11 am – 10 pm. Pickup and Delivery.

The MALIBU MENU consists of not only their famous specialty pizza (with a deep history serving Malibu) but sizes like JUMBO, FAMILY, THICK FAMILY, or gluten free. Perfect for lunch or dinner the next day too. Order calzones, pasta, meatballs, and more. Lily’s Malibu – the best burrito in town

7 am – 6 pm. Pickup in Pt. Dume Plaza. ORDER HERE.

Since 1999, Lily (who came from El Salvador) has been making overstuffed burritos with far more protein than rice, spilling over with beans and cheese. Expect sliced fresh veggies and gourmet seasoning too. Our favorites include the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito, Huevos Rancheros Plate, Loco Breakfast Burrito, Carnitas Burrito, Bean and Cheese Burrito, and Fiesta Chips.

The large size is almost enough for 2 meals. Scope out your Breakfast or Lunch.

Country Kitchen – dive-y cheap eats with breakfast all day and comfort fare

Hours: 5pm. Find “Cunt Kit” at 21239 CA-1, Malibu, CA 90265.

Typically a post-surf spot to pick up a breakfast burrito and a local hole in the wall hang, now you can take your 6-10 foot distance by picking up your order safely outside. Consider a tuna melt, chili, burgers, or BLT.

Mastro’s Ocean Club – steaks and seafood

Hours:  4 pm – 8 pm. To-go and delivery.

Malibu Farm – organic and locally sourced, the Malibu empire started here

As of recent, we are not sure if Malibu Farm is still offering takeout, but it looks like maybe just survival boxes.

Options you may love:  BLT Kale Salad, Greek Salad, Swed-ish Meatballs, Malibu Blue Nachos, Cauliflower or Zucchini Crust Pizza, Grilled Veggies, Spaghetti Squash Lasagne, Fish Tacos, and a Smoothie.
